Wenatchee Amateur Hockey Association Youth Hockey Scholarship Information

  • Funds donated to WAHA and designated to the Scholarship Fund will be used to support the participation of WAHA participants that demonstrate a financial need
  • The amount of assistance, as well as the number of scholarships, will vary based upon the specific needs of the applicants and the level of available funds
  • Grants for scholarships are on a per season basis, and participation in the program requires applicants to reapply each season
  • All Scholarships will be applied as a discount code given to the player to use towards their WAHA registration.
  • Scholarship awards are applied to tuition costs only and are not available to meet the additional individual team expenses or costs of travel or other fees.


Scholarship Criteria

  • Applicants can be Mite age and above.
  • All applicants must be in good standing with WAHA with no balance outstanding from any prior year’s fees.
  • Applicants must demonstrate financial need.
  • Applicants must be good academic students working as hard in the classroom as they do on the ice.
  • Applicant's family must complete mandatory fundraising & volunteer activities.
  • Scholarship recipients/parents must participate as a WAHA Committee volunteer to help out with home tournaments, Locker room monitoring, Fundraising Committee, etc.. Or, recipients must complete extra fundraising activities to recuperate half of the awarded scholarship back to WAHA.

Application Process

  • Applicants must submit a confidential scholarship application to the attention of WAHA Scholarship Committee at wenatcheehockey@gmail.com
  • Applications must complete full application. Link is at the bottom of this page.
  • Applicants must provide a written description of why they are applying for a scholarship.
  • A letter of recommendation must be included with the application.
  • Scholarship applications must be submitted on or before October 1st for Rep players and November 1st for House players in order to be considered for the upcoming season.
  • If an unexpected hardship falls after this date within the season, you may still submit an application. However, there may be an impact to the players on ice eligibility while the application is reviewed if received after December 15th and not approved before tuition is due on December 31st.
  • The Scholarship Committee will review all applications and determine the grants based on eligibility, the amount of available funds, and other factors considered relevant to the committee. The Scholarship Committee will notify recipients of amounts awarded by November 15th.
  • The Scholarship Committee reserves the right to request additional information during the determination process.
  • All of the applicants’ personal information, including their names and financial information will be kept strictly confidential. Only the Scholarship Committee will review the applications.
  • All decisions of the Scholarship Committee and the Wenatchee Amateur Hockey Association Board of Directors are final.

Income Chart

  • Applicants with 30% of Median or less qualify for up to 100% tuition
  • Applicants between 30% and 50% of Median qualify for up to 75% tuition
  • Applicants between 50% and 80% of Median qualify for up to 50% tuition
  • Applicants greater than 80% of Median will be evaluated individually for qualification of any scholarship coverage.
