SafeSport Program

The 2017 Safe Sport Act requires abuse awareness training for all youth sports organizations.  Safe Sport certification is mandatory for all coaches, officials, board members, employees, volunteers, billets, and anyone else who will have regular contact with, or authority over, minor athletes are required to submit to a background screen before any such contact with minor athletes. 

Players who turn 18 before December 31st are required to be Safe Sport certified. 

*At a minimum each player shall have one parent Safe Sport certified and background screened.

WAHA SafeSport Policies

The safety of its participants is of paramount importance to WAHA, PNAHA and USA Hockey. Safe Sport is the organization’s program related to off-ice safety.

WAHA is committed to creating a safe and positive environment for its participant’s physical, emotional, and social development and to ensure that it promotes an environment free from abuse and misconduct. As part of this commitment WAHA follows the recommendations and guidelines defined in the USA Hockey Safe Sport Program Handbook.  Any questions or concerns about Safe Sport should be directed to Mikaila Miller, WAHA Safe Sport Coordinator. 

WAHA SafeSport Policies are designed to address the following types of abuse and misconduct:

·         Sexual Abuse

·         Physical Abuse

·         Emotional Abuse

·         Bullying, Threats and Harassment

·         Hazing
